December 8

Remembering Pearl Harbor

75 years ago on December 7, 1941 was a day that changed America forever. Pearl Harbor in Oahu, Hawaii was bombed by Japan. Approximately 181 fighter planes from Japan  flew over Oahu and began their attack. Twenty one ships from the U.S. Naval fleet were destroyed within a couple of hours and more than 2,400 people were killed. The day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States  declared war on Japan. Since this was during World War 2, Japan in turn joined forces with Germany, who responded by declaring war on the United States on December 12, 1941. This lead the United States officially into World War 2.
