Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is the Nations oldest and largest drug prevention program.Special Agent Camarena was an 11-year DEA veteran assigned to the Guadalajara, Mexico, office. On February 7, 1985, he was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by Mexican drug traffickers. The first Red Ribbon Week celebrations were held in La Mirada and Norwalk, California. Shortly after his death, Congressman Duncan Hunter and Kiki’s high school friend Henry Lozano launched “Camarena Clubs” in Kiki’s hometown of Calexico, California. Hundreds of club members pledged to lead drug-free lives to honor the sacrifice made by Kiki Camarena. These pledges were delivered to First Lady Nancy Reagan at a national conference of parents combating with youth drug use. Several state parent organizations then called on community groups to wwear red ribbons for the last week of October as a symbol of their drug-free commitment. In 1988, the National Family Partnership coordinated the first National Red Ribbon Week, with President and Mrs. Reagan serving as honorary chairpersons.

The Night The Zombie Died Again

On the night of a full moon, Halloween to be specific, there was a strange person walking through the graveyard. The name of the graveyard was the Abandoned Graveyard because it was abandoned. The person walking through the graveyard quoted, “Me want dough nuts!” He happened to be a zombie. His nickname was the Dough Nut Zombie. He had been around since 1763 and the year was 1992. The zombie had been going on and on about how much better his scare was going to be this year. Each year he got the scariest scare. Every year the zombie steals everyone’s dough nuts so, do not take his dough nuts. There were three teenagers that each year on Halloween went around in disguises rolling peoples houses. This year the teenagers, Calee, Jessalyn, and Kynlee decided to go trick-or-treating, and the best place to do that is the Northside. The Northside gives out king-size candy bars. The girls decided to take a short cut since they lived two blocks away. The only short cut was through the Abandoned Graveyard. Kynlee and Jessalyn didn’t believe in the Dough Nut Zombie, but Calee was terrified. “Hey are y’all ready?” asked Kynlee. ” No” responded Jessalyn and Calee. “Well hurry up or I’m going without y’all!” said Kynlee. The reason Kynlee wasn’t scared was because she was a part of the prank. “Bye Mrs.Joyner!” said Calee and Jessalyn. “Stay safe and have fun!” They left the house. They arrived at the graveyard. “Umm…” ‘What”asked Calee and Jessalyn. “Do y’all hear that?” “Hear what?” asked Calee. “That violin music…”said Kynlee. “Oh”. Calee and Jessalyn were scared, wich meant the prank  had just begun! A witch, Mylia dressed up, popped out of the bushes and screamed. Mylia, or the witch, grabbed Kynlee and pulled her behind the bushes. This was the time for Kynlee to dress up. “Can we go home now?” asked Calee. “No!” said Jessalyn, “We have to make it to the Northside.” Katie was dressed up as a zombie cheerleader and she jumped out of the tree. Calee jumped into Jessalyn’s arms. Jessalyn pushed her off. Finally the Dough Nut Zombie came out, and it was Kynlee dressed up. Jessalyn grabbed a stick and started beating the zombie. Then everyone came out and said, “Happy Halloween!”

Plymouth

image

You should come to Plymouth with me! One reason I love Plymouth is the people in Plymouth always got along with the Natives. I love that they are very nice, and when they created the first Thanksgiving they named it Thanksgiving because it was a religious feast. They left England with a common goal so they signed what is now known as the Mayflower Compact. There is actually no such thing as historical records referring to the actual Plymouth rock where the pilgrims landed.Plymouth was actually one of the first permanent settlements, the other is Jamestown. In 1620 pilgrims arrived in Plymouth, near Cape Cod.In 1630 there were many more puritons that arrived at the Massachusetts Bay.I hope you come along!
